Restoration

Film Restoration: Before the restoration even begins, each piece of media is thoroughly inspected to assess any issues that require attention. Our skilled archivists clean each film by hand, removing any dust, dirt, debris, or loose stickers. We will repair cracked or broken sprockets and replace decaying splices with fresh tape. Next, we use processes and special equipment to correct any larger deterioration issues, like color dye fading, vinegar syndrome or mold. Once media is restored to the optimal condition, it is digitized using Cintel Film Scanners. Once films are digitized, we use premium restoration software to address any remaining issues including scratches, residue, cigarette burns, film wrinkles, water spots, splices, emulsion damage, jump frames and saturation. Our archivists restore the digitized film frame-by-frame to fix all aforementioned issues and bring the image quality back to its original splendor.
